Now that In one case Upon a Time'south Regina has been framed for murder, will she welcome her mother with open artillery?

That will be the big question when Regina (Lana Parrilla) finally comes contiguous with Cora (Barbara Hershey). Little does the Evil Queen know that mommy honey really framed her for the murder of Jiminy Cricket (Raphael Sbarge), who isn't actually expressionless! How volition Regina now handle beingness shunned by the residents of Storybrooke? TVGuide.com sat down with Parrilla on the set of the ABC fairy tale drama to get the scoop:

Once Upon a Time Postmortem: Who died? Who lived? And what's adjacent?

Poor Regina! She merely can't catch a suspension.
Lana Parrilla:
I recall it's a really lone, sad place for Regina to be left in Storybrooke without anyone. Even Golden (Robert Carlyle) — he's at that place merely he's non in that location.

She'll soon have her mommy! How do yous think Regina is going to feel about her mother subsequently all these years?
Parrilla:
I think there are going to be moments when she does revert back to that little girl. As much pain as her mother has caused, at the end of the 24-hour interval, she is her female parent and she loves her. I call back that's true for a lot of parent/children relationships. Even when they go amiss or horrible betrayals take identify, there's a connectedness that's undeniable and that could never exist cleaved by anyone. And then, I want to make sure that that's at that place fifty-fifty through the fighting, fifty-fifty if nosotros're throwing fireballs at one another. And then much and so that she blames Snowfall White (Ginnifer Goodwin) for Daniel's (Noah Edible bean) death when she saw her female parent rip Daniel's eye out correct in front of her and crush it.

Children, a lot of times, can't make their parents wrong considering they have to live with them, considering they have to love them. And when yous're young, you can't get on your Big Wheel and get down to the Best Western. You've got to alive at that place and you've got to figure it out. I think that she's done that often with her mom. She's made a lot of excuses and has blamed others so she can nevertheless coexist and love her mother and feel loved, even though information technology'south a demented sort of unhealthy dearest. And and so at that place's going to be moments of the Evil Queen. Simply I think it'southward going to be unlike. It has to be. She's grown upwards in a different way. Now that she's lost everything and she's had this huge revelation, she'southward going to have to find a new way to deal with Cora.

Were you surprised when you lot found out that Regina existence framed for murder was the management they were going in for the midseason return?
Parrilla:
I'm constantly surprised. I don't always agree with all of it either, past the way. I don't. And in that location'south a fight in me. Merely instead of making the call I go, "Okay, what's that about? What's the resistance?" Meryl Streep said, "When you read a scene that yous hate or you don't like, that's where the graphic symbol lies. So, yous take to go deeper." So, I'm forced to go deeper. I don't like that Regina kills Archie for the sole fact that he represents the conscious mind. I question why would she do that? Obviously there'south a twist. But that'south what he represents for everyone.

Is this the turning point for Regina?
Lana Parrilla:
Absolutely. There was that scene where Snowfall says to the Queen, "I know the woman that I met is withal in you, the woman who saved my life." I do believe that that woman is in there somewhere. Sometimes information technology'south lost for the moment and for a long time. Only there are redeeming qualities to Regina. Information technology'south getting dorsum in touch with the person she was before the betrayals, before the trauma, before she was damaged. I niggling incident, someone's wrong option or bad decision, or a betrayal of some kind can mess someone upward for the rest of their lives. That's where she is.

On the Set: Once Upon a Fourth dimension finds magic in the real Storybrooke

How have you grown from playing Regina?
Parrilla:

I wrote to [serial co-creator] Eddy [Kitsis] and Adam [Horowitz] the other 24-hour interval, I said, "I want to thank you lot. I have grown so much." I accept grown playing this character. It'due south not all easy. I think every character is a union between self and grapheme. How much of the character is like you lot and how much of information technology isn't?

Practice you experience compassion for Regina?
